Does Honor plan to use Harmony OS on its smartphones?

News

HarmonyOS is an operating system developed by Huawei, which should be an alternative operating system to Android. The company started to develop this version of operating system in 2016. It told Wang Chenglu, head of Huawei Consumer Business Software Department. Also added that the sanctions from the US administration were not the reason why companies have started working on this project. On the other hand, it has helped to make development faster. Chenglu revealed that they have been working on this OS since May 2016. From this version of operating system, the company promises that the operating system will be able to unify the scattered market with development under one roof. The reason is that it is an OS that is to be adapted for more types of devices, from cars, wearable electronics, home appliances, to smartphones.

On the other hand, sanctions from the US authorities were made to sell Honor to make the company survive. However, after sale raised the question of Honor’s plans. Does the company follow Huawei, or not?

Honor doesn’t want to “close the door”

The Vosveteit has brought answers to the question of whether Honor requires future use of HarmonyOS. However, with a second breath, it should be added that the answer leaves the question open. CEO of the company, George Zhao said it would depend on how the company will progress in the development of this operating system. In other words, if Huaweiu succeeds, he will join them, and if not, he will continue to develop Android. Also we have to mention that Huawei said in the past, that they allow use to any company to use Harmony OS. It means that it can be used by Xiaomi, Samsung, or a different one phone maker.

Zhao also added that the future operating system for Honor smartphones will be “different”, better. Unfortunately, no further details have been provided. Today, we can only speculate what the team thought, but one of the possible and probable alternatives is that the team came across the Magic UI superstructure. Alternatively, he could come across a completely different and new superstructure that would not be “described” in the Huawei design language.

In any case, it will be very interesting to see which tactic company will choose. Will he continue to “look” as part of Huawei, or choose his own path? We still have no answers to these questions.
